The Smell

Dentist office

We need special interior designers to revamp all these desist waiting rooms. There’s something like a ghostly presence that hovers over you. The future ghost of Kenny G dwells in these places and sends mundane chills up your spine. I need to come up with a proper adjective for the feeling you get when you’re in the waiting room.

Time, Men’s journal, People, Country living… Karina’s back in the seventh circle with Dr.McCormick while I sit here in purgatory. The only noises I can hear are a ticking clock and the “Mr.Thirsty” saliva vacuum.

I want to get into the novelty of the teal wallpaper, the wooden cutout flowers, and the gold framed primt of two swans floating infont of a gazebo… But the mind numbing boredom overshadows the tacky humor.

Oh, here comes WYRK country music. Looks like we’ve moved on from purgatory, Virgil must want our hero to travel deeper into the inferno. This twangy drawl about pickup trucks and l lost love must be punishment for some ill will committed by my former person.

Did that guy just walk his three headed dog by the window?

I’m really looking foreward to the end of this when we get to paradise. !HEREICOMEKEUKA!

Waiting

There are just a few things I need to get through before we can go to Keuka lake tomorrow. One of them is a shoe hunt. I hope she bags one SOON.

I’ve been waiting for a Keuka weekend for what seems like ages, and it’s finally about to arrive. Ahead of me I have a keuka run, a middle of the lake swim, some kan jam, and a pina colada on the beach.

BOOM!

5.69707776 kilometers

I DID IT!

I broke some personal records today when I ran 5.32692864 after a .37014912 kilometer warm up.  Here’s my stats:

  • Distance: 3.54 Miles (5.69707776 kilometers)
  • Time: 33:37 Minutes
  • Average Pace: 9:29 Minutes per mile
  • Average Speed: 6.32 MPH

I’m super pumped, because my ultimate goal is to run 10 miles and I can feel my body progressing each week.  My lungs are growing stronger and my legs can carry me farther.  It’s a great feeling to know I can accomplish just a 5k.  I don’t care how I compare with other runners, because there is no comparison to how I felt before I started running.  That is motivation big enough to propel me into the next run.

Plus East Aurora is the perfect town for a runner.  There are plenty of big shady trees and quiet streets to run down.  Today I closed my eyes and ran through every intersection.  It’s the type of neighborhood where cars just wave you through, so you get to run uninterrupted. Not too many potholes, nice sidewalks, a great park; I’m telling you, this town is great!  The morning jog down Main Street gets a bit too smoggy, but the side streets are beautiful.

Check out today’s run on my RunKeeper profile.  There you can see my routes and stats.  If you’re a runner in E.A let me know some new routes.  I think the one I did today is my new favorite. There will be a 5k run in Niagra Falls in October that I plan on attending.  I’m also going to do the Turkey Trot, with Tom! Peace.
